Scouting is a Children’s skill development Programme designed by Lord Baden Powell a British Military Officer a century ago. Its an international Organisation committed for empowering the children of age group from 3 years to 25 years. A dedicated band of volunteer adult leaders are facilitating the children to learn to be self-dependent, living with nature, Leadership qualities, Decision making, Adapting, Planning and Organizing like various life skills to progress in their life as a productive citizens of this country through camp craft and other related activities. Scouts and Guides are getting various awards and badges during their course of training like proficiency badges, Governor award and President award In India Scout movement is functioning from 1950 with the Head Quarters in New Delhi. Whereas in Tamilnadu it is functioning from Wenlon park, (opposite to Marina beach) Chennai. Chennai city CBSE Schools district started in 24-10-2017 to cater the needs of Cbse schools of Chennai city.

History
The Scout & Guide Beginning...
The Boy Scout Movement had a simple start in the year 1907 when a Major General of Army Lord Baden Powell conducted an experimental camp in Brown sea Island in England with 20 boys. The successful conduct of the camp and publication of the Book “Scouting for Boys” in a fortnightly marked the start of the Boy Scout Movement. In the year 1910, Crystal Palace Rally was held where Girls wearing the boy Scout uniform appeared and wanted to join the Scout Movement. Lord Baden Powell decided to start a movement for Girls with the help of his sister Agnes Baden Powell.
Our District Beginning…..
The Bharat Scouts & Guides, Chennai City CBSE Schools District emerged in the year 2017-18. It was started under the able guidance of Sri A.T.B. Bose, District Chief Commissioner of our district and the Secretary of Kavi Bharathi Vidyalaya Sr Sec School, Thiruvortiyur, Sri J. Srinivasaraghavan, President of our district and Principal of the Hindu Sr Sec School, Triplicane and Sri R. Varadharajan, District Commissioner (S) and Principal of GSS Jain Vidyalaya Sr Sec School, Vepery. These three eminent people took the Chennai City CBSE Schools in Chennai City to showcase their skills and talents.
A year later, Dr. D.P.Sivasakti Balan, Pre-ALT(S), Advance Commissioner and the Sr Principal of KRM Public School, Perambur, took charge as District Secretary and along with Sri J. Thanukrishnan, District Treasurer, and Principal Smt. Durgadevi Choudhary Vivekananda Vidyalaya Sr Sec School, Kolathur, gave immense contribution to the growth of our district Scouts & Guides.
